Hi. Im Alana Kandrac and I'm 19 from Roswell, GA. I had a difficult time growing up, not just one or two phases. Throughout my whole life up until more recently, I felt as though I wouldn't be able to make anything of myself. It felt as though the work I had put in over the years would vanish. I had no direction. When I dropped out of Kennesaw State University and enrolled at ISSNMT, I actually felt a sense of purpose.

Although I may never fully know where I'll end up, it's comforting knowing that when I graduate ISSNMT I'll have a license doing something that I love and connections that will last me a lifetime. Nails have always been an obsession for me. I remember begging my mom in 7th grade for a set when my classmate got them over the holiday break. I remember attempting to learn dip powder in my dorm room at my boarding school and having my friends ask to try on them. I have so many fond memories gossiping between the nail salon walls with my best friends and looking forward to getting that specific color next time I got my nails done. Im so believebly grateful my family and friends have supported me throughout the entire process of me getting here, I genuinely wouldn't have been able to do it without them. By becoming a licensed nail technician, I prove myself wrong in a lot of ways I needed to prove wrong. I also have hard days, and I want to share the bad and the good. I can't wait to see where this journey takes me and what new people it brings into my life. I hope that I at least inspire one person throughout my career as a nail technician. I want nothing more for the kiddos younger than me to know nothing stops then from anything. Please never let anything get in the way of you becoming successful and happy.

I am currently enrolled at the International School of Skin Nails and Massage Therapy. I've learned a majority of what I know from being in school there and I am beyond grateful for the connections I have made. I plan to graduate in early April, and take the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers exam in, hopefully, May.
